From Vision to Reality: Bringing Psychd to Life in the Heart of the Jungle
Today, I want to take you back to the very moment when the idea for Psychd transitioned from a fleeting thought to something tangible. This is the story of how, in a quiet tamboo in the Amazon jungle, I brought crayon to paper and began the journey of transforming a vision into reality.
It was a serene morning after a profound ayahuasca ceremony in the maloka. As I lay there, reflecting on the experiences of the night, a question floated through my mind: "How can I share the power of psychedelics?" The answer came to me with surprising clarity— fashion. This simple yet powerful idea set my heart racing with excitement.
I made my way back to my tamboo—a humble hut nestled in the jungle, where the only barrier between me and the wild was a thin mesh screen. The tamboo, devoid of modern conveniences like electricity and running water, offered a sanctuary for introspection and creativity. Inside, I had a bed, a hammock, a desk, and a collection of crayons and paper—my tools for the day.
Sitting at my desk, I opened a new page in my colouring book with the crayons before me. The simplicity of these tools reminded me of my childhood, a time when creativity flowed effortlessly and every blank page was an invitation to explore.
As I brought crayon to paper, the initial lines were tentative, but soon, they took on a life of their own. I let my mind wander, guided by the insights and visions from the ceremony. The colours I chose were vibrant and bold, reflecting the intensity of the psychedelic experience. The patterns were intricate and flowing, reminiscent of the natural beauty that surrounded me.
With each stroke, I felt a deeper connection to my inner child—a sense of freedom, playfulness, and boundless creativity that I had not experienced in years. It was as if the act of drawing with crayons had unlocked a part of me that had been dormant, waiting for the right moment to reemerge.
In those quiet hours, as I sketched and coloured, I was reminded of the joy and playfulness of childhood. The simple act of creating art with crayons took me back to a time when life was uncomplicated, and creativity was a natural expression of my being. It was a powerful reminder that we all carry this childlike wonder within us, and that it can be a source of inspiration and innovation.
As the logo took shape on the paper, I began to visualise the future of Psychd. I imagined a brand that embodied the transformative power of psychedelics and the beauty of nature. I saw clothing that was not only stylish and functional but also sustainable and ethically made. This vision was not just about fashion; it was about creating a movement that encouraged conscious living and a deeper connection to the world around us.
It was a simple yet powerful representation of the vision that had taken root in my mind. Looking at the finished piece, I felt a sense of accomplishment and excitement. This was the beginning of something new and meaningful—a brand that would carry the spirit of the jungle and the insights of psychedelics into the world.
(I share images of the crayon sketched logos and more in our newsletter).
The experience of creating the first logo in the tamboo taught me an invaluable lesson about simplicity and authenticity. It reminded me that true creativity doesn't require elaborate tools or perfect conditions. All it takes is a moment of inspiration and the willingness to explore and express.
I began to brainstorm and plan how to bring Psychd to life once I returned to the modern world. I envisioned a brand that would stay true to the simplicity and authenticity of its origins, while also embracing innovation and sustainability. This vision has guided every step of our journey, from the materials we choose to the designs we create.
The story of Psychd is a journey of discovery—of reconnecting with my inner child, embracing simplicity, and transforming a vision into reality. It is a reminder that we all have the capacity for creativity and innovation, and that sometimes, all it takes is a moment of clarity and the willingness to put crayon to paper.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to the values that shaped our beginnings. We strive to create clothing that not only looks good but also carries a deeper meaning, encouraging wearers to reconnect with their own creativity and the world around them.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Together, let's create a future where fashion is not just a statement but a reflection of our shared values and aspirations.
